The Brazilian Network for Community-Based and Solidarity Tourism - Turisol is a national movement that since 2003 has been holding the debate on a new type of tourism to promote environmental and social justice.
The network is characterized by the union of several Brazilian organizations that execute projects on solidarity tourism, including TUCUM.
It was created to reinforce exchanges of experiences among existing initiatives, and motivate other communities to build a solidarity and community tourism.
The network currently consists of 13 projects and / or organizations, and operates in 8 Brazilian states and 61 municipalities.
In Ceará, TUCUM Network is part of this articulation, as well as Casa Grande Memorial do Homem KARIRI Foundation, in Nova Olinda. The national movement also has the participation of the Association of Rural Tourism Acolhida, in the town of Colônia in Santa Catarina; of Silves Association for Environmental and Cultural Preservation in the State of Amazonas; of Mamirauá Institute for Sustainable Development in Amazonas and Bagagem Project, in São Paulo.
The main lines of action developed by Turisol include training and capacity building in communities for community tourism; knowledge building on the projects and their methods of work; dialogue with departments and ministries about the impacts of public policies; and promotion and marketing of touristic destinations that make up the network. The activities carried on by TUCUM Network promote these processes.
