Batoque
Guaranteeing the space, preserving lives
Batoque is the first, and so far, the only Extractivist Reserve of Ceará, (or RESEX), characterized by ecological practices of usage and exploitation that the local population establishes with the land, the lagoon and the sea. Here, 320 families live by the sea, provider of their main source of income – fishing.
The history of community organization, the struggle against real estate speculators and the victory regarding the right over their territory is transmitted throughout generations.
